About My Blog
"A galloping horse will never see it." So goes an old saying which, roughly translated, means, "Don't worry about the small imperfections." What better advice for a gardener, particularly one who gardens in hot and humid Cary, North Carolina?
For those of you who don't know, Cary is a seemingly ever-growing town in central North Carolina, next to Raleigh and a relatively quick drive to Durham and Chapel Hill. The locals say that Cary stands for "Containment Area for Relocating Yankees," as many of its approximately 140,000 inhabitants are, like me, transplants from north of the Mason-Dixon line. Fed up with and priced out of New York City, my husband Ron and I moved here in 2005. We bought your basic Pulte house in your basic Cary subdivision and, shortly thereafter, my galloping horse garden was born.
I didn't intend it to be a galloping horse garden. But between the red clay and the ten plagues climate, it just kind of turned out that way.
This blog will chronicle my experiences and observations as I sweat it out in my adopted home. Naturally, as a native New Yorker, I have plenty to say. I hope you find some of it worth listening to.
